Today I had the pleasure of sitting down with Rich Talarico for the next “Gettin Close with Mike Marbach Podcast”. Rich was in town teaching improv and sketch workshops at the Philly Improv Theater all weekend. Rich has over twenty years improv experience having worked with the iO Theater, Second City and UCB. He’s also written on several television programs including The Tonight Show, Mad TV, Naked Trucker & T Bone, Saturday Night Live and is currently writing for the hit Comedy Central sketch show, Key & Peel. In this podcast we talk about improv theory throughout and what he considers to be the “secret weapon of improv”, what it was like learning improv from the likes of Del Close and Stephen Colbert, writing for different sketch shows, advice to any improvisers/sketch writers and lots of other stuff. Look for the podcast to be posted this week.
